Kayla Sofía is a Brooklyn-based actor of Colombian and Argentine heritage.

A graduate of Ithaca College’s BFA Acting program, Kayla continued her training at the Maggie Flanigan Studio, where she studied the Meisner Technique alongside extensive work in voice, movement, text, and Shakespeare.

Her work is rooted in an interest in complicated people: the contradictions, humor, ugliness, tenderness, and strange little things that make someone feel unmistakably human. She is particularly drawn to stories that resist easy answers, and to characters who can be deeply funny and deeply hurting, sometimes in the same breath.

As a bilingual Latina and second-generation American, Kayla is especially interested in work that explores Latin American identity without reducing it to a type. Her roots are an important part of who she is and the stories she hopes to help tell.

She works across film, television, and theatre. Her credits include Blue Bloods (CBS), Imposter at The Flea Theatre, You’re Gonna Miss Me in The Chain Theatre’s Winter One-Act Festival ’26, and Bang Bang You’re Dead and Lady Parts at the NYC Fringe Festival.

When she isn’t acting, she’s probably watching a movie, reading, playing the electric bass, or cuddling with her dog, Cleo.
